Secret Mission Me helps families enjoy more fun time together as well as open a closer conversation that is about children's lives and feelings.
Secret Mission Me provides stories for the child to read and assigns her missions to play with. It ignites her creative energy to explore and collect things from her daily life for the missions connected to the reading - and by pairing the child with parents for some missions, Secret Mission Me creates interesting shared topics about each other's lives for families to share and discuss with.
A response to the realization that parents wish to know more about their child, then they ask many questions about school, teachers, friends, etc. But those questions, for children, are either too hard, too boring, or indicating there is a problem. Thus, the conversation usually goes to nowhere. According to Dr. Anthony Rao, a child development expert, increasing more time together in a fun way and start a conversation in a neutral setting can improve parent/child communication. However, It becomes more difficult for today’s double-income families who can’t spend much time together. Secret Mission Me helps families engage with each other's lives and foster a closer conversation through doing fun and shared activities in the timeframe.
The Secret Mission Me concept is a product of ChiaWei Liu's thesis work in the MFA in Interaction Design Program at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
